Straight from the twisted minds of EQD and one of today's most necessary rock bands, Idles, comes the EarthQuaker Devices Gary! We know what you're thinking, "Gary? Who's Gary?" Who is Gary, indeed. Gary is a thunderous collaboration between EQD and Lee Kiernan of Idles to craft an outrageously powerful and quirky drive pedal fitted for a touring rock band with a massive sound. Wild and raucous, Gary's got it all!

The EQD Gary started out as a fairly simple request by Lee Kiernan to create a compact version of the EarthQuaker Gray Channel overdrive – a mainstay on Lee's board and a huge part of his main drive tone. This all worked out quite well, but in adventurous EQD spirit, if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing! Gary became something else entirely from this juncture with the addition of a second channel. What this all means? Some really fashionable dirt and fuzz.

Onboard Gary, you'll find two footswitches and four dials to control the independent dirt channels. To one side, EarthQuaker Devices built in their Gray Channel overdrive. This Gray Channel recreation is designed with Kiernan's favorite settings built in – diodes removed for a full-bodied opamp distortion. The two dials on this side of the pedal include Go and That's It. With Go, the opamp distortion can be set at a variety of drive ranges from a full-range clean boost to a natural distortion. This works in conjunction with the That's It dial that sets the master volume for the drive, making for great interactivity between the two dials.

For his wild side, Gary consists of a destructive and dynamic fuzz that is highly interactive and pretty dominating, so let's talk about it! Gary's right fuzz side features an envelope-controlled variable pulse width and buckets of volume. What this means is that Gary's right side turns the signal into a square wave, allowing you to adjust the duty cycle through your picking dynamics. On this side, we have Yes! and Oosh. Oosh controls the overall output for the this side. Yes! controls the sensitivity of this envelope, spanning from an unaltered, heavy square wave fuzz tone at its absolute minimum and a nasally, narrow, and biting buzz at its maximum. Gary runs the gamut for reaching fuzz-through-a-phase-shifter-type sounds at his craziest, so play boldly and don't look back!

Gary comes equipped with an expression connection that allows for manually adjusting his fuzz's envelope duty cycle in real time. This can be overridden by simply using a dummy cable to defeat the envelope altogether and setting the duty cycle with Yes! to find your own perfect fuzz mix. Gary is fitted with EQD's Flexi-Switch technology that easily allows for true bypass momentary and latching style switching.

With Gary, we're made witnesses to some debaucherously dirty drive. Take up arms with this EQD special and make good friends with Gary. He's a charmer!

Beautiful Acacia Boards That Actually Feel Premium and Thoughtfully Made
I’ve gone through a lot of wooden cutting boards over the years, and these immediately stood out as feeling much higher quality than most sets in this price range. The acacia wood has a really rich, attractive grain pattern and the boards arrived smooth, solid, and well finished with no rough spots, cracks, or cheap “composite wood” feel. What initially caught my attention was the fact that these are marketed as non-toxic and free from mineral oil. Most people don’t think much about what wooden kitchen products are treated with, but I appreciated that these use a natural blend instead of petroleum-based mineral oil. The boards had a very clean, natural wood smell out of the box instead of that chemical/oily smell some cheaper boards have. The three-size setup is honestly perfect for daily kitchen use. I find myself constantly rotating between them: the large board for meal prep and meats the medium board for vegetables the small one for fruit, cheese, garlic, herbs, etc. The engraved food icons are also a surprisingly nice touch because they help keep things organized and reduce cross contamination without looking tacky. A few other things I really liked: They’re lightweight enough to move around easily but still feel sturdy - The wood is gentle on knives - The groove catches juices well - They look nice enough to double as serving boards - Packaging was clean and plastic-free/minimal Like any real wood cutting board, you absolutely need to: - hand wash only - dry them after use - occasionally recondition the wood If you expect dishwasher-safe convenience, these probably aren’t for you. But if you want attractive, natural wood boards that feel healthier and more intentional than cheap plastic boards, these are excellent. Overall, these feel like a genuinely thoughtful kitchen product rather than generic mass-produced boards with a trendy “eco” label slapped on them. Very happy with them so far.

Beautiful in appearance and quality
I've been using these for several months and I love them. They're sturdy and great quality, not to mention so beautiful. They do of course scratch up as you use your knife on them which is to be expected with wood but I plan to give them a little sanding soon and an oiling with the oil they provided. I would definitely recommend.
